What We’ve Been Up To
New Coach in Town
The following information is a little about myself, and beliefs as a Coach. As a child I was always playing completive sports, soccer, basketball, football. I was not tall or fast, so I had to think outside the box to become an asset to my teams. My senior year in High School I was the team captain for Basketball and Football. I was recently inducted into the Aloha High School Hall of Fame for Basketball. After returning from college I began coaching Youth teams in the Aloha area. They were school oriented AAU teams, that traveled to Washington & California for Tournaments. I took a couple years off when my kids were little, but as soon as they were able to play ball, I coached their teams - first my son, and then my daughter. I have coached Boys & Girls Teams. Both come w/ different skill sets and abilities. I believe that hard work is necessary to achieve any goal, and I use that approach in my coaching. I set expectations, and expect follow-thru and commitment from my players. In addition, respect for fellow team members and the game is a must. I truly believe that if you put your player in the position to succeed, they will become a better person on and off the court. I enjoy the challenge of improving a players abilities individually, and the team as a whole. Throughout my years of coaching, I live for and excel in, tight games that become a matter of strategy to win. Understanding when and how to use your Players, time-outs, placement on the Court, fouls, etc…. All of these factors are essential to win games, but not every Coach has an understanding and ability to use these factors to create the win. Basketball is a team sport that takes everyone working together to obtain the win, but it also takes a knowledgeable coach.
